Bike part
« on: January 22, 2012, 02:09:15 PM »
Made this master cylinder cover for a friends murdercycle. Went a couple thou to deep with the center drill and lost a bit of detail, but hey, it's not bad for using a center drill as an engraver.

Looks good Sam. Maybe try doing some inlay work for the next one.

Hi Rich,

You may want to return to your thread and replace the description of exactly how your inlay work is done.  ;)  It would be most helpful for others that follow.

>:D That was a little trick I tried to mimic from the many hours of watching David Marks "Wood Works" show. At the end of the show, he would always show the final project with wood chips scattered about.
What really peaks my interest, is how much detail a person could get into that part if it were anodized and dyed black, and you had, say, I dunno....a cnc laser or something. 8)  If I could somehow justify the cost, I would most definitely like to have one!
My friend wanted an Apache helicopter engraved, but there was just no way to put that much detail into it, and still look halfway decent.

Rich, I am indeed wanting to do some inlay work, but as most things, just can't seem to make the time for it. It is on the "list", however. Nice job you done.

Just think of it in terms of 'handbags' and 'shoes' and how many = 1 laser, then do a trade.  ;D

Great advice Tweakie.
That's how I got my plane, but had to throw in a walk-in closet and a Lexus.
