LCam Offset corners
« on: January 16, 2012, 08:28:25 PM »

I draw a box in TurboCad 18, explode it 8 times and save as a DXF.
In LCam I optimize it, select offset, a 1/4" mill, choose outside and a direction.
When I click Create Offset it offsets but rounds all the corners. If I choose inside it
does ok. What am I doing wrong? Ben

Hi Ben,
The toolpath (centerline of the cutter) will be a radius around the corner leaving the actual part with a sharp corner.

Look at ot closely with the simulation.

Hope this is what you mean,
Russ

Thanks for the quick response. When I look at the G code it has a curve statement "G3" at each corner. Ben

Notice the sharp corner on the part and the tool path at the cutter centerline.
