Smoothstepper is an external motion controller that connects to the computer via USB and communicates with Mach via a plugin. There will also shortly be an Ethernet version available. The SmoothStepper is I think around about $150.

it means the smoothstepper is better than parallel convertor(if the cost be near)

The SS has many advantages over the parallel port but also a few disavantages, the fact is the parallel port supports all functions of Mach and the SS as with other external controllers dont. Most are supported by the SS but a few like Torch Height Control are not. The SS is a very clean pulse and  it can pulse up to 4MHz which is a big advantage if using servos.
