Spindle start up causes mach3 estop
« on: December 15, 2011, 08:24:20 PM »
Hi, I need some help with my syil X5 2011 setup. The spindle start up (eg S1000 M03) makes the spindle go to speed (around 1350 rpm) but causes mach3 to throw an estop at the same time. I've tried changing most of the settings in Mach3 but no luck yet. I'm using the SmoothStepper interface. The Spindle is tuned 100/1200/800. The spindle starts in manual mode without error. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm very new to this stuff so simple explanations are good!

I've read a thread about VDF noise/grounding causing estop issues but I'm not running a VDF motor.

Try setting a filtering value for E-Stop in the SS config, dont go too high, maybe just try the 1.43 min for a start.

Hi Hood can you take me thru what I have to do. I sometime find the spindle stops and says estop activated. Where do I put in that 1.43 value, only can find where to insert it in the config pull downs.

Hi Hood, thanks for responding, but I can't find a where 'SS'  and a 'filtering value' are in Mach - I looked in Spindle Setup but can't see it, could you please spell it out for me?

Plugin Menu the SS Config. You will then see the filtering options for all sorts there. 1.43 is the unit but if you entered round numbers it would still work, just be rounded down to the nearest multiple of 1.43, so if you entered 3 it would equal 2.86, if you entered 4 it would still equal that.

Hi Hood, went to the plugin menu, mach wont let me config anything. I'm checking your instructions on a computer with the free demo of Mach3 on it and its not connected to my machine, is that why I can find it? My licenced Mach 3 is down the workshop on an old computer and aint connected to the web so have to come up the house to go on the net. Jim

Jim its the Plugin Menu rather than the Plugins Config available from the Config menu. See screenshot. If you dont have the SS plugin on that machine then you wont get the plugin options.

No probs, cold but no snow here, we dont get much right on the coast here usually, inland 2 or 3 miles is a different story :D
