Cannot run DriverTest.exe as unpriviledged user
« on: November 01, 2011, 11:30:42 AM »
Hello,

I recently installed the Mach 3 software on a 32-bit Windows XP SP3 system. I am able to run the DriverTest.exe application as an administrative user and the test passes successfully. When unprivileged users of the system attempt to run DriverTest.exe nothing happens. Are there any known issues with this? Are there any log files I could check to see what is going on?

Thank you very much in advance,
Kyle

That is a windows permissions problem. Either set MACH3 up to run as normal OR give the users permissions.

I have given users full control to the C:\Mach3 folder. What else should the users have permissions to?

IF "you as admin" can run it from the Dir and they can't then you did not clear up the permissions issues.  I have seen this many times in the past and present with windows( Vista being the worse so far).

DO I have the answer NO, I am not a windows guru(;-)

IS this on a single seperate computer used to ONLY run the machine?

Or does it do OTHER functions as well?? Networked??

(;-) TP

The machine is on a windows domain, but its sole purpose in life is to run this software/hardware.

Thanks TP. The computer is connected to a network, but the Mach 3 software was all installed to the local hard drive. I have given the Users group Full Control the the entire Mach 3 directory and verified that Users are able to read write and execute to files within the Mach 3 directory.

Is there any type of a log file that is created when the DriverTest.exe application is run? I would be able to fix the problem if I could just find a clue. Currently if I double click on the DriverTest.exe application no process is created in the task manager and nothing happens at all.

Can you right click and double check the properties and permissions??

Just a thought, (;-) TP
