LCD chips should not be hot.
Please check LCD connection. Probably LCD is not OK.
We checked many types of LCDs and most of them are work without any problems.

Hi Borisz.

You mentioned "most" LCD's are ok, do you have a list of those that aren't?

Thanks,
Dave

Iz should work iit has HD44780 controller. But if it is hot, probably you did not connected it OK and/or it is broken.

Did you pay attention to the AND481GST LCD pinout? According to the datasheet, the pinout is not fully compatible to other HD44780 displays. Namely, the +5V is on pin 1 and GND on pin2 (usually, HD44780 displays have these two pins the other way around).
