A axis running slow under G1 code
« on: October 20, 2011, 12:30:10 PM »
Hello all, I am having a problem with A axis running very slow under G1 code. If i set the feed rate to 1000 it is about the same speed as 6 on the xy and z axis. I am running the Sieg mill from Littlemachimeshop.com with my own rotary design. G0 code works fine and the jog is fine. Any ideas?

1000 for a feed on a rotary axis will be 1000 degrees per minute so 2.77revs per minute. Setting a radius on the Settings page will possibly help. You also need to turn on the option from Config then Toolpath.

Hood,

Thanks for the reply. On the tool path page I have it set to X-Axis and A axis rotations enabled. I do not find radius on the settings screen. I am using Mach3 v 3.041. and I am also using cnc wrapper. It seems that i didn't have this problem with a little earlier version of mach3. Also when i load the wrapped file it shows the diameter to be very small and the X dimension to be long.

Hood,

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! That got it going! I thought the diameter was for the drive pulley diameter....duh, my bad on this one. Now it shows the correct diameter on the screen. I set to use diameter for feed rate and bingo! it all works great. Once again , thanks!

I guess I still have a lot to learn about Mach3.

I have been using Mach for probably 8 years and still find new things :)

About 10 years ago when I was just getting interested in the world of stepper motors I ran into Arts site on Mach and have followed it since. He has come a long way with Mach3. I tried a few other out there and Mach3 has to be the best of them all.
