Hi Asen,

You need to run Mach.
On your PC, go into device manager and check the LPT parallel port address (usually 0378) then check this is the address entered in Mach.

Hi Asen,

My guess is that it is your PC.
If it is running background tasks or sharing application time like multi-tasking then this may cause the issue you are having.

Hi Asen,

You should be able to calculate your steps per unit of movement exactly for each axis that uses different pitch screws etc. This calculator may be of assistance to you http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,16315.0.html

dear tweakie

my stepp motor is 1.8 - step = 200 /rev .lead screw 5mm /rev . that mean stepper motor run 1 turn ,the axis move 5mm . .but where I must set this step  at mach3?.I set at motor tunning , step per set at 200 .but now ,the motor turn 2,5 turn for 5 mm .

yesterday when I start the pc, when I push the ALL REF HOME, all axis become 0 and the axis 's LED become green ,but to day can't move , but the z axis move to + .not going to 0 .

pls advise

thank you

Hi Asen,

You also need to know how many "microsteps" your controller is set to.

As an example - I use 1/8 microsteps so...  200 steps per rev = 8 x 200 = 1600 microsteps per rev = 1600 / 5 mm pitch = 320 steps per unit

You need to get the steps per unit right, for your installation, before you proceed. Perhaps read the manual again, use Al's calculator mentioned previously to calculate the steps.

I fully appreciate the difficulties involved here, when I started it all seemed so daunting but once you have got a grip on this then it all falls into place and then just seems so simple.  ;)
