Alibre CAM/Mach3 compatability?
« on: July 01, 2011, 05:26:39 PM »
Hi,
I am new to the forum, and new to cnc machining in general. I have had a machine for just over a year now and have finally started using CAM to machine parts instead of writing the G codes manually and I am having some difficulty. I am using Alibre CAD, and it has a 2.5 axis cam software add on. When I simulate the operation in Alibre CAM everything looks great, but when I post the code to Mach3 the last hundred lines of code are all the same and it doesnt actually finish the operation.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?
Thanks!

Do you have a Mach3 license?
Are there any error messages?

Mach3 came installed on my CNC machines integrated controller. I believe it is licensed, but I do not remember going through any process to make it so. We also bought a copy of Mach3 and licensed it on my bosses computer. Where can I check to see if it is licensed or not?
The only message that comes up when I load the code is "2.5 axis profiling". There are no errors at the end of the code, it just ends after a hundred or so lines of the same code.

Go to Help > About, and you should see your name.

Hi,

So far everything I have done has run fine except the hole drilling.  I am sure it is in my post processor but I believe there are several different Mach 3 post processors that you can choose.  I haven't had a chance to try the other ones yet to see if it fixes my issue.  Hope this helps.  By the way I am running Alibre Cam Expert.

We have Alibre. AlibreCAM is actually VisualMill from Mechsoft underneath, running as a plugin. They work fine together in my experience.

Sounds like it is a problem with Mach3 to me.

Just my 2 cents.
