Step and Direction input on Parker Compax servo
« on: June 22, 2011, 06:24:58 AM »
Can anyone help me with getting a Parker Hannifin (Hauser) servo system working with Mach 3.
I have a Compax 1060SL servo drive, which has a step and direction input mode. However, the manuals are very vauge/contradictory about the signals needed.
The interface can also be used for an encoder. I have tried 5V single ended signals and 5v double ended (RS422), but cannot get a response.
If anyone has experience of this, please let me know.

Thanks
Colin

Just wondering if you have taken a common from your BOB to the drives as that will likely be needed.

Ok just looked at the manual, from a quick glance Pin 15 on X13 needs to be connected to your breakout boards Gnd so that the step/dir have something to be referenced to. You may already have done that though.

Thanks for the suggestion. When I tried the single ended connection, everything was powered/referenced to the controller. I wasn't using a breakout board, just a pulse generator.

Would seem to be your parameters are wrong then as according to the manual it should work fine.
