Coolant not working after upgrade
« on: November 26, 2006, 04:49:06 PM »
This is a spin-off of another thread.
I'm having problems getting my coolant to work again. The timeline:
Last Saturday everything worked well using V1.9.084. Monday I updated to V 2.012. The coolant no longer turns on with m08, CRTL-F or clicking on the coolant button on screen. The only time it will come on is related to the RESET button. Now it goes on only when in RESET; changing enable to actvie low turns coolant on unless in RESET. THe coolant command changes nothing except the related led which lights up correctly.
I'm using the supplied 1024 screen set.
Can anyone give me an idea about what could be going on? I've switched ports, settings, active hi/low etc. I'm at my wits end

Mark

I downloaded Mark's xml. and all looks OK here. It's really hard to tell for sure as I'm simulating on office PC.
Mark,
I can't remember. Did you say the led in diagnostics screen, output 2 led is flashing when you command coolant? It does here. Also on the run screen. I think I found another bug also. When you place in feedhold while doing an XY move, hit start after it stops, now the XY move feeds at next z rate.

Changing the active state in Output #2 doesn't change anything, changing it in Enable1 turns it on all the time unless in RESET.
The LEDS on run screen and diagnostic page all show as they should, thats whats so frustrating.
I swapped pins for coolant & spindle in config; coolant on turned on the spindle as it should but spindle on didn't turn on coolant

Sound more like a duff relay or motor on the coolant.

Graham.

I agree Graham.

Mark,
Can you check the signal with a meter?

The coolant solenoid (mist) does work. As soon as I hit RESET (on run screen) it starts hissing merrily away

Mark,
I may have tunnel vision. If when you swap the outputs for the spindle and coolant the spindle works as it is comanded, change them back and the coolant doesn't it has to be something beyond the control of Mach. What is different about the way the spindle is controlled Vs. the coolant? The spindle is on a relay, the coolant is on a selonoid etc.? If a light switch operates one bulb and not another it has to be the bulb right? Not necessarialy. One may be 12VDC and the other 110VAC. I know this has you at your wits end, I'm there with you and I'm 1500 miles away. I have been whiped before, but never by a machine. Stumped yes, not whiped. I won't give up if you don't.

Both of them are controlled by relays coming off the board(Hobby CNC).
I'll do some checking tonight when I get home.
The reason I have tunnel vision toward Mach is that it worked fine till I upgraded. But now thinking back, I did install Mach Blue screen at the same time. Since then I've uninstalledMach, removed the complete folder & purged the registry, so I don't think that should even enter into it.
Thanks for the continued help guys
Mark
