Scale change when running G-code
« on: March 17, 2011, 07:49:39 AM »
I am new to mach 3.  I compiled a test program using MasterCAM (and supposedly the right post-processor).  My 3-axis unit will manually jog in an accurate (real) scale.  Meaning - Mach 3 says I moved an inch and I in fact have moved an inch.  But when I run G-code it changes the scale drastically.  I haven't experimented much with commands and settings.  Hopefully I am missing something easy.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Nuvarian,

Welcome to the forum.

Could be that you are set up in metric units and the GCode is in imperial units or visa versa.
Check the GCode for G20 or G21 codes - this could be a clue.

Yes... those codes are indeed my problem.  Like I said (and I am glad) it was something easy.  I noticed the "mill" settings were metric.  I found a way to lock the standard units for when the program is run and it now applies the proper scale.  Thanks!
