Driver Test
« on: December 13, 2010, 01:07:23 PM »
Hello,

In trying to resolve some problems, I went back to square 1 and did a 'driver test'.
The CPU is 1794 MHz - Parameter control is 25KHz - Pulse rating says System Excellent -
Pulse/sec is 23268 - Time between Pulses in uS is a flat line around 40.

The when I go into MACH3 and into 'Diagnostics'  I get a Pulse Frequency of 23235 then
it will jump to 131 then up to 22771 then to 98 then to 23235 - back and forth.

There are no other processes running.

Is this normal?

No its not normal, it should stay steady.
Does your computer have onboard graphics? Does it have any kind of power saving features, either in Bios or Control panel? Have you tried the optimisation steps?

That is what my Dell computer does and goes  down to even 14ooo something. I don't use the
Dell PC for cnc . Has onboard graphics and just plain sucks wind for cnc work.
The pc I do use does not show any drop and is close to the 25kz kernel ( 24801 and only varies by 1 pulse ).
FWIW,
RICH

Thank you to both Hood & Rich -

1st step in optimization solved the discrepancy.
