New to mach3. Need help please.
« on: December 06, 2010, 01:47:49 PM »
Is anyone here from the northern Virginia area?

I am building a laser cutter/engraver and am looking for someone near me that is experienced in initial setup.

Thanks in advance for a reply.

You could ask some questions to members, I'm sure they can help even if they are on the other side of the world.

Jeff is quite right, we are all over the place but we are all joined up with little wires and communicate with each other just like a breakout board and set of gecko's.  ;D

Seriously though Eric, we are all here to help you, just ask away.

Thanks all for the kind words. I already feel like I'm part of the family here.

What I've built is a laser cutter/engraver based off of the build on www.buildlog.com. Bart Dring's design. He has been more than helpful through the process.

My stepper setup is a three axis xyz configuration. Machine is now built and I'm needing to get the basic motor tuning setup. I'm running nema 17 motors through a geckodrive g540. Where do I start? Setting up home stops etc? Is there a video for this or can someone walk me through please.

Thanks in advance

Eric
