Homing Issues..Assistance Appreciated
« on: September 23, 2010, 12:51:17 PM »
I am having a seriously "NO FUN" time trying to get my DynaMyte 2400 to home.
I am using the OEM home switches which are NO, along with the OEM steppers and drivers, under the influencel of a SmoothStepper and a Probotix PBX-RF break out board.

Axis movement with the Mach jog pendant is functional and accurate.
The system seems (to myself) to be properly configured according to both the manual and the video tutorial,
but the dammmm axes just won't cooperate!

I have tried changing back to the flash screen from the "steel blue", (as I saw Hood mention possible screen set issues in another post), I have tried just about every config I can think of, "Home Sw Safety" enabled and disabled, etc., with no joy.

.xml file is attached, and I'm ready to give myself a dope slap if someone spots a self induced anomaly!

Thanx,

Rex

What happens when you home?
If you press the switches do you see them light on Diagnostics page?

What happens when you try to reference home?   Do they move at all.  Have you used the diagnostic screen to test the switches with Mach?

When I jog the axes into a mid-travel area and press RefHome the Z will move in the + direction, contact the switch and continue to try to move in the + direction. X & Y act as if they have hit the Home switch while still in mid travel, moving a bit in the - direction, stopping and then moving back a bit in the + direction.

Yes, the Diagnostic page LEDs activate when the switches are closed manually

Are you using the latest plugin?
X and Y sound like you have noise so maybe entering a filter value in the plugin would help but not sure on the Z, have not seen that before if the LEDs show up in Diagnostics.

Plug in version, Beta2 v015 ogx2, looks to be the latest available on the Warp9 site.
I'm also using the latest lock down version of Mach.

Yes thats the latest.
Is the Z definitely showing up on Diags page when you press it? If you go to the SS monitor do you see any state change when you press the switch?

Yes, the check box for each axis clears on the SS Monitor when the switch is depressed, and the LEDs for M1,2,3Home activate on the Mach Diagnostics page when the switches are depressed.

Strange, dont see any issues with the xml either so afraid I dont know what to suggest except maybe checking to see what is in the RefAll button.

Just for grins I set the debounce to 2000. Based on some of the posts I've read this would give me an indication of any noise that could be causing my Home issue.

I moved the axes to about 1/2 total travel, hit RefAll, and watched as the Z axis bumped the home switch and reversed off to .100"! The Y and X axes followed suit, just like I planned!! To say the least, I am a happy guy!

To get an idea of how much noise I was dealing with I lowered the debounce by 100 and tried again....same result. I lowered debounce by 200 and tried again...same result. After trying a few more drops of the debounce I ended up at "0" and the machine is homing perfectly!

This must have something to do with there being a full moon tonight!  ;)
