Couple of simple gifts...
« on: September 14, 2010, 08:50:34 PM »
Some future Xmas gifts for a few friends made from Corian. They're both 1/4 thick and about 5-6" in length.

I never get tired of playing with this material, it's just so nice to work with.

Thanks for such a great piece of software.....
Dave

Dave,
There is no need for you to spend so much time and effort on my gifts.  ;)
A couple of grand, just like last year, would be appreciated just the same.  >:D

Wow, Dave. Those look incredible. The way you put the names on the Harley piece is really creative and unique. Love 'em!

Rich: You shouldn't have said anything, I was going to double it this year  ;)

Sam: thank you, I kind of thought the original 100th anniversary logo was a bit dated  :D

Russ: correct, VCarve Pro it is. I can nver say enough great things about this software. Just a pleasure to use.

Tweaks: I would as well, my friend, wish I had more "free" time. I consider myself very lucky though as the economy is said to be so bad here, but we've been very staedy (knockin' on wood!!!).

Thanks fellas,
Dave

Dave,

Looks great !  What tooling are you using for that, RPMs, speeds ?

Details please,

JH

Thanks JH, I'm using a Centurion solid carbide 1/2" 45 deg. V-bit for the Harley and a CMT 60 Deg. (wood style router bit) V-Bit for the Angel, just to see how things went. They both ran VERY nicely as I'd hoped because doing small engraving with poor quality V Bits can give bad results in the letter profiles. These come right to a point so details are not a problem.

I'm still new at Corian so keep that in mind when I give you the speeds and feeds. I didn't use a wood router, I have a Taig mill will the stock motor that goes up to just about 11,000 RPM's. I'm going at 10 IPM's and could easily go faster if I decided to rig up a little Bosch Colt to the headstock instead of the stock spindle. Kind of a lot of work if I'm not going into production on these, athough it would probably yeild really nice results with the higher RPM's.

Thanks,
Dave

Actually you can't buy something like this at HD or Lowes, as I wish we could!

I got it off a guy on ebay, but also look for another name like Pionite
