Using mach for other Process Control
« on: August 30, 2010, 01:06:50 PM »
General Question.  has anyone tried to use Mach to control other processes like Turning on and off pumps, monitoring temperature. Checking to see that things are flowing before the heating elements are turned on.  Or operations like checking to see that is flowing before turning on TSC making sure that chillers are at temperature so spindle does not over heat.

Thanks for any info

You could more than likely do all you want with Brains but if its a stand alone kind of thing a PLC would likely be a better option.

Yes, I pull in and send out IO and Analog IO, along the Modbus to a PLC to handle things like Cabnet temp control, Spindle chiller activation, etc.

I have built some machine that are "Process" control types, but usually machines that also needed some type of motion control in it. But if you really dont need precise motion control, you can just use a PLC, as Hood said above.
