The only thing I can think of is that your xml is set as read only, either that or Mach is not being shut down correctly as settings are only saved when you close Mach.

Is there a way I could edit it directly in the XML with the machXML reader???  And what line would I be looking for to change?

step0 is X step1 is Y etc etc.
