PC Based Automation

Hi group,
has anyone worked with pc based automation for controlling processes or plants?
Does anyone recomend any good software for this purpose?

It depends on what you want to do. do you want the computer controlling the devices, or will the computer be connecting to PLC's.

You might also check out the Factory Floor software from Opto 22.

I guess, i havent thought about that, I'm guessing any would do. I think i like the idea of having a PLC do the controls, and just have a human machine interface, on the pc, and be able to program and manipulate sensor data with the pc also.
