Any Microscribe users in here?
« on: April 24, 2010, 01:11:37 PM »
Sorry, I know this is probably the wrong forum, but I'm desperate! (Microscribe is a portable CMM device)

I'm using my Microscribe in Rhino4.

I know how to find the mstip.dat file, change my delta 5 to the correct number, but when I try and save the change it says it's a read only file and can't be saved.

What am I doing wrong to let Rhino know the correct non standard tip length that I want to use?

Help please! trying to get this project finished!

Could it be a Windows issue ?.
Right click on the relevant file and uncheck the 'read only' attribute.

Good catch! You're exactly right!

I did that, it now saves... but Rhino isn't recognizing the change.

It's a txt based .dat file. You change it in Notepad, save it... then Rhino is supposed to go to that .dat file for the dimensions when using the digitizer.

Even though it's now saved and changed it doesn't make a difference.

Seems that Rhino is looking at a different file or getting it's data from the registry settings perhaps.
