No mCodes in MDI mode?
« on: April 17, 2010, 10:59:50 AM »
Hi All
Ive been using mach 2.63 for a while and updated to latest version last night. For some reason I cant seem to type in M3 and M5 in MDI mode as i used to. The spindle is working and I can start it using the F5 key. is this a new safety feature or am I missing something in the setup?

thanks in advance

Iain

Hi All
I found out the problem and that was the M key on the keyboard was set to MDI select. Hope this helps anyone else who runs into this :)

Thanks for coming back with the solution, been a few people with similar issues and thats one of the reasons I dislike using HotKeys.

Yeh a little bizzare to assign a hotkey as default that you are going to use a lot elswhere.
Still a great program otherwise

Just checked and its not possible to assign a hotkey for the MDI in the screenset, didnt think it was but wasnt 100% sure, so only way is to assign in the xml or Mach code itself and I have never seen it assigned in Mach code so it would seem to be a user set thing in your xml.

How bizzarre..i did copy the XML file from my old version of Mach 3 (2.63) . This may be the cause as the motor tuning etc was all wrong and it didnt copy across properly

There have been a couple of random weird things with the xml and the last few versions so it is possible that it changed on yours, especially as you say going from such an old version to the latest in one leap.
