Setting Up for index pulse
« on: February 20, 2010, 10:22:36 AM »
Hi
This weekends problem is Index pulse problems
I have a cnc4pc index pulse system on my lathe and the sytem pulses when the lathe is running.
The led on the unit changes speed when I change the motor speed (manual).
The meter shows a voltage change at the breakout board.
I have set the Index as port 1 and pin12 and ticked use spindle feedback in spindle set up.
In diagnostics index is green.
When I run it no rpm is shown it sits at zero.
I only have the output wire connected to the breakout board as it already has a ground. (I tried one and it made no difference.
Any clues please.

Clive,
Did you turn the spindle on? Even if it is manualy turned on you need to turn it on software wise.
Type M3 in the MDI line. The software then starts looking for pulse to display RPM. This was done so low rpm values would be displayed.

Make a copy of it and rename the copy to something like clive.xml and attach when you reply.

You click POST, then click Additional Options, click the Browse button, in the windows flyout go to the file and click on it, then click the open button, the file along with the path to it will be  shown in the box next to Attach:
When you click post, the file will uploaded .

You have Spindle Relay disabled, I think you may need to enable that in recent versions, just set it to an OutPut you are not using, you may also have to enable the output and just set up imaginary port for it.
