Hi All,

Just got a sensor fitted to the spindle on my colchester - followed the "Rich guide to threading"
Working spot on - after I set the feed override to 100% !! (for a moment I could not understand why the pitch was way off :D)

All hail Rich ;D

Derek
You can "chop it off" but can't "chop it on"

I Have 032 and was trying a thread a coupe days ago. The thread worked but it didn't look great. Do you guys know if  this version has threading issues? If so, where can I get 033?

Thanks.
Eric

Hi, haven't been on here in awhile. I am STILL using version 1.84 on my lathe, and have had great success with threading and found no reason to upgrade, especially after the massive threading problems that the newer versions seemed to suffer. But, I usually make both parts of a thread, the male and female pieces, and have no issues. However I recently had to do some very long threads that were to screw into a deep threaded hole, and found that the pitch is off by maybe a half pitch over 1.25" of length, and nothing I could do would fix it. So, wondering if the newer versions of Mach have that issue fixed, and are as stable as my old reliable standby 1.84?

 DAlgie,
I don't go back to V1.84 so can't relate to that.
A lot of effort was done to correct the pitch, feedrate, etc in threading.
There is a chart in the write up which gives allowable error as compared to pitch and that was the basis for how accurate the threading should turn out.
Most of the testing i did was with 2" lengths ( becuase i could more easily measure that length with the microscope) but i did tests
out to 4 or 6" and had no problems with the results.

I am still using 3.042.033 ( don't use anything lower than that version ). I don't remember any problems reported since then .
Let us know how you make out.

RICH

Link didn't work Hood and i tried a diffferent one and it didn't work.
So.......Under the Artsoft logo above:

Support>Tutorial Videos>FTP
( "FTP" IS ON THE SECOND LINE, CLICK ON IT)
Click on the "Directory MACH" and you will find older versions listed there that can be downloaded.

Takes a little longer but you get there!  ;)
