Mach3-setup: [Spindle Setup] [PWM Control] setup for Maxnc CL
I am trying different PWM base frequencies to control my Spindle motor speed. my 1/2 hp and 1/5 hp spindle motors seem to react the same to different settings. I don't know what minimum PWM% does so I left it at 0%. I don't know what anything else changes so no changes were made. So far I have tried:
PWM Base freq
5 Hz motor surges from such low frequency
25 Hz motor not too shakey at low rpm - good speed control
30 Hz motor chirps like cricket at low rpms but ok- good speed control
50 Hz motor not very responsive to changing rpm setting but very smooth
any suggestions for fine tuning for best motor life and control would be appreciated.
Also any other settings that fine tune for maxnc would be appreciated.

Hi:
For a MaxNC, use step/direction instead and set the step pin for the spindle motor to pin1 I think it is.
Then tune the spindle in the motor tuning as if it were a motor.
Let me know how that works..

re: changing from PWM control of spindle to Step control
It works!
I already had step pin set to #1 ,but to keep motor from running all the time in PWM mode I had to turn step low active ON. I ASSUMED (bad thing to do) that step control of spindle also needed it on too. After trying every combination possible I Finally turned step low active OFF and motor spins up and is adjustable.
Thanks
I left dir pin on 0 ??

Leaving the Dir on pin 0 is fine, it will then be ignored. I noticed awhile back that NC users can get better performance speed wise from the step output rather than PWM,. Sounds like your fixed up..
Have fun

Don-- I could sure use some help understanding a few things with Mach 3 and Maxnc 10CLb. If you check MAX CL Mode, do you still have to set the pinouts? If so can you please tell me what you set the pinouts to? I get no movement when the pins are set to 0. I get strange movement when in MAXNC WAVE mode. Thanks

I have just bought one CNC machine in 2001 of Maxnc Company. Trademark is
MAXNC 10 CL -B. this machine has 4 pivots and i lost software and documentation
of this machine. I am very appreciated If any body know it and send it to me or guide
me how to install the parameter for MAXNC 10 machine then this machine can be
run by mm system.
As I read from some forums that we can use Mach3 to run MAXNC 10 machine
however I do not know how to set up all parameters to run mm system. Pls guide me
in details to fill all parameter in Mach3 to control MAXNC 10 CL -B
Thanks for your kind supports
