Set-up question -- output enable LED toggled
« on: December 20, 2009, 02:11:10 PM »
Hi Folks,

I'm just getting started in this so my apologies if this is in the wrong forum section.

I've just set up a 3-axis table and I'm having problems getting things up and running. Right now I think the source of the problem is that as soon and I hit the reset button in Mach 3 in the diagnostic page, the 1, 2, and 3 Enable LEDs in the "Output" section all toggle red. I'm not sure what's going on here. I've installed a port monitor software and the direction ports seem to work fine, but the step ports don't seem to modulate when I jog the tool.

Anyone have any insights on what might be going on here? Any information would be greatly greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

David

It will all depend on how you have things set up but the Enable LEDs turning Red is normal if you have enables set up. Red in this case means its a good thing as it means they have been activated.
Whether you need enables or not will depend on how your system is wired up.

What kind of hardware do you have (make of drives, type of motors etc)?
Did you wire this yourself or was it bought pre wired?

Hey, thanks for the response, Hood.

I actually managed to get my motors running last night -- the problem was in the breakout board wiring, not the software. So I should be up and running shortly :-)
