New Guy with Mach3 install problem
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:56:14 PM »
I very carefully followed the Mach3 installation guide. Yes I did do the reboot. I'm at 2.4 Installation Problems. I see no place in the manual before 2.4 that says run the driver test program. In 2.4 it says two things may occur.... I guess I don't see where or how to run the drivertest.exe program.

I did the steps in 2.4.2 and there is no entry named Mach1 Pulsing Engine.

Where have I gone wrong?

System info:
Fresh install of XP Pro with SP1. No Updates
2.2 GHz
1G ram

To run the driver test just have Mach closed then go to the Mach3 folder and double click on drivertest.exe.

I tried it, there is no file in my Mach3 folder named drivertest.exe.
Any other possibilities?

Thanks,
Chris

What version are you installing, and where did you get it from?  Drivertest.exe absolutely is part of the install, and if it's not there, then delete the Mach3 directory, re-boot, and re-do the install.

It's vesion 3, and I got it from MachMotion's web site. It's a legit copy. Will a uninstal/reboot mess Mach3 up?

I reinstall  over the top rather than delete. If that doesnt help however you may need to delete, just copy your xml and any other custom files you have to another part of your disk before you do that.

I think I have the reason there is no drivetest.exe file. I'm not using the parallel port for connection from the PC to my control box. It uses a USB connection. From reading, it seems the drivetest.exe file is created when the parallel port stuff is installed.

Yes, no need for the driver when you have an external motion controller, usually still gets installed I think but possibly as MachMotion will be an OEM version it is not there as default.
