Best way to convert step and direction to +/-10V
« on: September 03, 2009, 04:31:43 PM »
In my mill conversion I need +/-10V to run my servo drives.  I was going to use the pixie boards that were made for doing this but they are no longer available.  What other options do I have?
Steve
You can "chop it off" but can't "chop it on"

There are a couple of convertors, one from Rutex and another from here http://max-mod-shop.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47:yapsc10v&catid=17:-yapsc&Itemid=4
Dont know anything about either and have not heard of anyone using them so you will have to do your own research :(

The other options are the DSPMC   http://www.vitalsystem.com/web/motion/dspmc.php  and Dynomotion http://dynomotion.com/ , they are external motion controllers which connect to Mach via plugin. The DSPMC seems to have a lot of happy users but not seen much about the Dynomotion

The last option is Galil.

Thanks for the information, I knew about the DSPMC and found the Dynamotion a few days ago.  I have lots of servo drives that need 10 volts so I was hoping to find something inexpensive.  I will probably go with the DSPMC for my mill as this is not really a bargain bin project.  Yesterday I rescued 6 Galil stand alone controllers before the scrap metal guy got to them, unfortunately they are the only ones (DMS-1540) that the plug-in does not support.  I also snagged 24 Galil brush type servo amps!

Looks like this would work also.  http://www.ajaxcnc.com/mach_cnc_systems.htm
Anyone use one of these?

That is very new on the market (less than a month) so not likely anyone has one set up yet. Have heard good and bad about Ajax's other stuff but no personal experience so cant give an opinion.
