Is there a way of feedholding faster with SS?
« on: August 30, 2009, 01:43:46 AM »
Hi,

Im doing some bench tests on SS and Match before installing on a real machine.
Running a simple demo code I have noticed that it takes the SS 3 or 4 seconds to feedhold when I press the button.
Watching the SS data monitoring window It seems that it empties the buffer before entering hold state.

Is there a way of telling SS to flush the buffer so it holds immediately?
Are there any OEM codes or commands that are specifc for SS?

Thanks

What do you have set for controller frequency? Try setting it at 2MHz, it should then take only about a second for the feed hold to take effect. 4MHz frequency will reduce the response time even further.

But in general Greg is about finished a new plugin which will return the feedhold (as well as FRO) back to Mach and thus making it instantaneous like with the PP.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply.

Youre right, with the controller frequency set at 2KHz the buffers empties in about a second. With 4Khz I get USB errors.
However Ill be waiting for Gregs upgrade because I would feel more confortable with a deterministic feedhold.

Thanks Again
