Faster movement for 3d routing???

Hello all,
Is there a way or settings beyond the acceleration slides to make 3d cutting faster? I have messed with those settings with some improvement but I have seen some videos of routers moving way faster than mine on 3d wood and foam carving and would like to try to attain that type of speed.
Any help for a rummy would be great! ;D

How fast you can go is mostly determined by the machine itself - motor torque at speed, reduction/screw pitch, etc.  Acceleration is probably the first thing that will limit 3D performance.  How is your machine setup?  Motor size, belt/gear reduction, screw pitch, supply voltage/current, motor controllers, microsteps, etc.  What settings are you using right now for max speed, acceleration, etc.?  What kernel speed are you running?

Make sure CV mode is on, and use the fastest accel you can. You might posibly want to play with the different CV settings to see if they make a difference. Here's the CV docs, which might help.

Thanks for the reply..
I have a 4ftx8ft chinese router and it does well 200 up to 400ipm cuts inply wood for my cabinet parts but when I do 3d work it never reaches those speeds. It has a 6hp water cooled spindle and the steppers are 3.8v 4.5KG 1.8 deg. 220v supply. The X and Y are Velocity 501 and Accel 15.19 Z is set Velocity 175 Accel 55. Kernel speed is set to 25000Hz.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response! I have read that before and have CV on but don't fully understand it's ability. What do you re comend for CV settings??

With the 3D it is more than likely doing thousands of short moves so the axis can never get up to speed, CV will make things better but still not perfect.
 You may find you could get better accel  if you lower your velocity, often having a slower rapid but much faster accel can make things a lot faster as normally you are not cutting at rapid speeds.

Do you have any suggested settings to start with?? CV velocity etc?? I will not blame you for any errors I am just looking for a benchmark to start from.

The velocity I was meaning was in motor tuning, just have to mess around and see what is best, each machine will be different.
 I will give an example of how it can make things better, my Bridgeport when set to 2600mm/min  for velocity the max I could get for accel was 40, dropping the velocity down to 2300 and I could get 130 in accel. This makes everything so much faster as the axis can accelerate much faster.

I'm in inches so say I could go down from 500 to 300 and raise my accel up some? I know it takes fiddleing but I didn't expect to go down to speed up......
What about CV what can or should I do with that??

My machines are all relatively slow metal cutting machines so I have never messed with CV settings, just left them at default.
