well thank you sooooooo much my husband is up and running now it was the xml file like you said and we noted that for later issues...appreciate your help..THANK YOU!!!

I don't have the program in front of me but I seem to recall correcting this with a setting perhaps called "connection tolerance" I think it's under the "Extents" tab.  I believe it to be conflicts between how close the chains are and perhaps also the depth of cut and the tool per pass setting.  I posted my query if you want to search for it.

Edit:  I now see mine was an issue where I added tabs, it was generating ramps either into or out of the tabs.
