Anaheim Automation DPD21AA1 Translator
« on: August 15, 2006, 02:07:06 PM »
We are searching for new controller software for our CNC router, and Mach looks impressive for our application.

We are wondering, before we leap, if anyone out there has any experience wiring an Anaheim Automation DPD21AA1 "Translator".

It is a four axis controller/translator that accepts printer port signals as  input (2 axes per lpt) and outputs to the stepper motors. We use the fourth axes for a drill head "W".

Anaheim no longer sells the product, and I didn't have any luck with info from them, but the box looks nice, and I'd like to use it. The pinout diagrams were written by the controller software vendor (CNC Controller), so its not a direct read.

We would like to

1) Get a new PC to run XP and Mach
2) Plugin 2 LPT cards (probably PCI these days)
3) Configure Mach to pinout for Anaheim translator
4) Connect LPT ports to Translator
5) Machine should work  ;D

I know I'm over simplifying all 5 steps, but I would like to hear that we are on the right track.

Thanks,
Tom
