Objects Jump Around, Help.
« on: April 15, 2009, 04:25:39 AM »
So this may just be one of the many quirks of Mach Screen 4, but I'm woking on just changing the look of the interface and when I click on buttons to change the graphic it makes other objects jump around on the screen. I mean a whole bunch of graphics will shift to different locations. For some weird reason it only becomes very persistent after I've changed a lot of stuff from the standard. I save very often and when I reopen I immediately save the file and change the version number as I get lots of things jumping around.

So for instance I'll work on changing a few button graphics on a a standard 1024.set file and everything will be fine. I'll save it, then work on it more, the more I get away from the original look I get more objects jumping around. So in the beggining when working on a new look I can change a few things before the objects start shifting, when they do shift I already saved the file, close down screens4, restart, get a few more things done and so on, but then I get to the point where I've change a lot of things then when I reopen the program I can't change anything without the objects jumping around, thereby I can only get so far into making a new look when it's always buggy and I can't progress. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I try to lock everything and keep it locked. I did have an issue one time where everything on all the pages moved 2 pixels to the right, and 2 pixels down. I think it happened while editing a script in Mach3. But I only saw this once.

What do you mean by 'locked down'? If there is a lock down function how can you change objects around then?

In the properties window, there's a "lock" checkbox. Move it where you want, then lock it in place. While locked, you can still move it by changing the coordinates in the properties window.

That didn't help. They still jump around. It's like they are returning to the original places they once were or totally skewed like the background. I'll try other computers later today, thanks for the help.
