Scotty are you running XP or Vista? Either should work but I haven't messed with Vista yet.

This system is actually both but the Vista is downgraded to  XP Pro. Its quite nice.
The only problem I'm having is my damn driver.

here is the system

Brett,

this is a reply from my MCSE computer tech that put together my workstaion..

What you have exactly is the XP downgrade.

Technically, you have a Vista license but choose to downgrade to XP, or
I choose for you.

Vista sucks. It was released all the way back in January 2007 and still
is not ready for prime time.

Microsoft has recognized their failure, I'm sure you see the Mojave
commercials...

Anyway, Vista flopped and is already being replaced by Windows 7.

Me,
I'm never going to touch Vista and just move more into Linux and
virtualization. I've started messing with 7. It's a little better than
Vista but not great.
Much appreciated

What a bunch of mindless crap-ola!

Folks had big issues with Vista as many HW manufacturers refused to write Vista compatible drivers. Many software titles also chose to lock folks out of upgrading to Vista because they wanted to FORCE people to buy a new version of their SW. (MS actually did tons of compatibility testing, found out that their was no technical issue with running it on Vista and tried to work with SW vendors on the issue.) Yes MS is working on Windows 7 now, just as they were working on Vista when Xp was released, just as GM, Ford, etc work on new designs while building/shipping current designs.

I really don't care what OS someone chooses, I just can't stand mindless mis-inforamtion about anything.

Whoa!!  Easy does it, ..... 8)... Thats just an opinion from a MCSE geek, no need to take it personally. I agree with you actually.
Next time I will send a personal message, instead of getting the forum all fired up.

ANYWAY...

Got the whole situation figured out last night and the machine is running sweet as honey. Had a dog of a time loading drivers but with the
generous help from Precision Chaos (Thanks a million Brett) we got the machine to run with this OS. Mach3 needed a few tweaks and that
did it. Right now I'm running guitar bodies.
Thank you Artsoft and Mach 3 for such a great forum. Extremely helpful in all angles.

Mill away......

Much appreciated

Sorry, I was not being personal. I quoted a section of the letter the MSCE guy sent you, but failed to make my intention clear. Sorry.  :-[

Glad you and Brett got things sorted. Be sure and post some pics of your guitars!
Happy machining , Jeff Birt

All of a sudden I get no movement after on either the machine or on M3. thursday night we had it all working. I have no idea why.
The port pins worked for us. I shut down and the next day. Nothing worked.
Should I un-install M3 and download the latest version. It seems like the best thing to me.??

Much appreciated

Scotty, I wouldn't think you will need to reinstall Mach. Probably just a setting somewhere. Post in detail what your machine is doing and I'm sure someone will try to help narrow things down for you.
