Motor/screw configuration?
« on: March 01, 2009, 01:24:05 PM »
Hi All, I have my new router build done and am setting up Mach3. My steppers are turning using the G540 XML file. Every thing runs fine, I just need to figure my travel setting out.
Hopefully someone can help out.

specs:

Steppers are, Keling KL23H284-35-4B   387 oz-in
Controller is Geko G540
A and Y axis screw are McMasterCarr 5 Start ACME 2 turns for 1"
Z axis is THK KR33 ballscrew/actuator with 10mm per one turn.

My config is setup as inches.

5 start screws should be 4000 steps/inch.
Z axis should be 5080 steps/inch.

200 steps per rev for steppers, 10 micro stepping on the Geckos so thats 2000 steps per motor rev, 2 turns to move one inch so that is 4,000 steps per inch for A and X (although maybe you are  meaning X and Y ? )

Z axis is same for motor and drive so that is 2000, the ballscrew is 25.4/10=2.54 turns per inch so 2000 x 2.54 = 5080 steps per inch for Z.

Edit
Looks like I was beat to it LOL

Thanks ger21. Is there a formula to arrive at those figures for future reference?

Also I'm using your touchscreen screen, very nice!
