Running a laptop on Mach 3
« on: February 22, 2009, 08:48:58 AM »
Hi,

Here's what I got. Just bought a CNC router and will have it in my shop that does not have any heat or air. I need to be able to use a laptop so I can take computer indoors at night. I have seen another person using Mach 3 with a laptop, but I know there are some restrictions. I think I remember the guy telling me that the Dell laptops will not work, but the IBM Thinkpad would. If any one can advise what laptop I should buy to run Mach 3 (Hopefully I can get a cheap one off Ebay) I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks in advance for your help

DCHEEKS,
Go to FAQs thread as there are a number of postings there on laptops wiith MACH. Here is the link.

I can't recommend one over the other saying that you will not have problems. Buying a used old dog
may may be shortsighted in the long run. Using the SS along with a laptop that has problems provides alternatiive but
then you have additioinal costs.

Rich,

Thanks for your help. Looks like this has been well covered by others. Thanks again.
