Cable connections and EMC
« on: February 01, 2009, 07:00:31 AM »
 ???
I think I am not the only one which has problems with EMC disturbtion from the fraquency controller on the PC lines and the power modules of the stepper motors running in the neighbourhood of the ferquency output cables.
What kind of cabling should we use and at what sides has the screening to be connected.
kind regards,
Andre

Braided screen cable should be used and earthed on the panel side only.

There is a special EMC cabling with twisted paires screened and overall screened.
Can the screens combine together and on what side.
Also for the frequency controller and for the PC?
Must all these screens connected together so that there exist a kind of closed box of connected screens?

kind regards,
Andre

They don't all have to be on the same ground lug, but all to a ground inside your panel, any plate
in your panel that is an earth ground, and that end only.
