TOOL COMPENSATION - ADDING TWO ITEM BOXES
« on: January 24, 2009, 04:09:41 PM »
I was wonderinig if anybody added a tool diameter and tool number input to the standard mill
screen yet for tool compensation. I'll get to modifing screen's in due time but for now if somebody has already
done it i would like to steal with pride.

Thanks,
RICH

I tired to post and say there already is one, but got that stupid error about the filename already used, then got stuck in and endless loop that said I already posted, even though it didn't let me post.

Anyway, I think you mean you want the tool # and diameter of the D word in the G41/G42 line? I don't think there are DRo's for those. As long as you use the current tool's diameter for comp, it should be displayed correctly on the main screen.

Gerry,
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Thanks, just goes to show how narrow visioned you can become on the screens.

Who knows, currently on page 20 out of 350 of Smid's book on programing techniques.
Page a day, about another 50 or so out of the new mach manual and i will be really dangerous.   ;)

RC,
There are two books and I purchased "CNC Programminig Techniques" as suggested by Brain.
It cover's a lot of ground. If your totaly unfamilar with Gcode and lost on basic trig and math it will may be a challenge. As a novice, you need to just find a quiet place and focus your attention on what's being presented.Ha! Ha! So far i don't think i wasted my money as i was thinking about getting it for quite some time.
It certainly covers what Brian went over regaurding Mach's new compensation, but you just don't read a few pages since it's filled with a lot of techniques. All in all, yep worth the money if there is interest
and a solid reference source is desired.
