Need Help with Machine Jumping
« on: January 22, 2009, 08:57:51 PM »
 :-\Need some Help here Guys,

I'm trying to cut my first sign using VCarve Pro design software. I spent most of the day cutting parts and decided to make a sign.  I can load the program into Mach3 with no problems.

The problem comes when I press the start button.  The machine starts running per the program, but instead of running smoothly, it jumps.  As it runs the status block reads,"Too Fast for Pulley, Using Max.".  I'm not sure what this means, because I can adjust the feed rate and nothing changes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Chuck

Hello Chuck,
You will probably run better in CV Motion Mode. If you aren't already.
Also, Here is a link to some very important information about CV and associated settings explained.
http://www.machsupport.com/docs/Mach3_CVSettings_v2.pdf
I hope this helps you.

spindle too fast for pulley message is because the spindle speed you are calling in the code  is above the speed you have set for the pulley. You can set the pulley speeds from the Config menu, also make sure you have the correct puleey number in the DRO on the diagnostics or settings page (cant remember as I dont use the standard screen )

Hey RC,

I read the information you attached and made some changes to my system.  I have a couple of questions.

1. The backlash setting is at 20% and the "Backlash Enabled" box is not marked.  Should this box be marked?

2.  In the main screen (Alt6) the CV Distance setting is 100.00 and the CV Feedrate setting is +1.0000.  I'm still a little confused on what this should read after reading the attachment.  What should this be set at and how do I set it?

Thanks for your help.

Not absolutely sure Chuck...other than what the doc. says as I dont use it. All I have right now are lathes.
If you do a quick search for "CV" you will get GADS of info.
And maybe someone else can help here as well.

1) No
2) Turn them both off.
