Chinese BOB preventing input signals from MPG
« on: May 09, 2020, 10:02:50 AM »
Hi guys, I have been trying to setup Mach3 to accept an encoder so I can thread on the lathe using the ESS.

If I wire the encoder A/B to the Chinese 5-axis bob then MAch3 does not get any signal. If I wire the encoder A/B direct to the parallel port, bypassing the BOB, it works a treat. The BOB is over here -https://warp9td.com/images/BOB_Vendors/StepperOnline/ST-V2.pdf

Has anyone else noticed this and is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening? I have tried a 4k7 resistor from 5v to the inputs but it doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Jason.

The ESS has inputs for spindle encoders on port 3 so it can thread

Yep, but my signals don't get through the bob.

Has anybody had any luck with this, it would be nice to find a solution using the 5-axis bob and not having to buy another one.

Are you also connecting the 12-24Volt dc to your 5 axis BoB ?

Yes, I have the 12v connected, the external relays and 0-10v speed control all working great.
