General Mach Discussion / Re: License problems

Problem resolved.  I think their autoresponder didn't know about the holiday.  I got a new license yesterday which I did not expect since it was a holiday.  All is well.

My mill wizard license is not working.  I set up a support ticket and 48 hours later I get an autoresponder asking if my issue is resolved.  No one has ever contacted me!  There is a link on the bottom of the email to let me view my support ticket, but when I click the link I get a screen that says I have to log on and there is no place on the screen to log on.  This is the first time in 8 years I have ever asked for help with a support ticket.  I'm glad I never had in the past because the system is broken.

Did you ever find a solution?

45a @140v seems high. Is that the old drive spec or from the motor?
Don

The existing drives are rated 30A.  The constant stall current is 11.3A, peak 65A.  The machine can do 400 IPM rapids.  Coming to a stop from that speed can blow a drive.  The existing drives are Servo Dynamics.  They sell for $1400 each.

Thanks for the heads up.  The amps might be a little low for my motors.  I sent them a question to see if there drive can run my motors.
How easy was it to tune the drives?  I had a heck of a time with Gecko servo drives.

I am going to upgrade my Yamazan Knee mill's DC servo drives (the mill weighs close to 5,000 pounds).  It has NEMA 42 motors, max 65 amps and 140V.  I am looking for servo drive recommendations for drives that work well with Mach.  The Gecko servo drives are only 80V and 20 amps and would limit the machine's capabilities.

Thanks,

Vince

Thank you for the reply.  When you say Windows 10 will require an "external controller", do you mean a motion control board that takes an USB or Ethernet connection?

I am thinking of one of these: NEXBOX T9 Mini PC Windows 10 Intel Z8300
Has anyone used one for Mach?

My 10 year old computer is dying.  I need a new small one that can run Mach 3 or 4.  It needs to be under 9" square and 4" deep.  Also, what operating system should I use?  The old one is still running XP.  It is not connected to the internet.  Any suggestions would be greatly suggested.  Oh, BTW, my old one had a parallel port.  I am guessing I will need to change to a USB or Ethernet port type BOB, so I will need to replace that as well.

Thanks,
Vince
