Here's a pic of the feature I mean, it's normally set to Z, but it would be great if I could use the same feature on Y instead.

yea, if you can find where the Multi-pass code lives (subroutine, macro...?), and just change its axis values to Y, but make sure you keep some of the Z stuff like safe z etc.
