Hi All,

I am having trouble with my Z-axis. I import the g-code from Visual Mill and the X and Y are milling correctly. I have been jogging the machine and setting the DRO's to zero at the surface of the stock. When I go to run the job, the machine moves above the surface and starts cutting. In display mode, the mill seems to be following the surface correctly. I do notice that the table limits in display mode are below the part I am trying to surface mill. When I change the Z in the config homing/limits so the stock is within the machine bed, it still tries to go up and mill above the surface. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,
Kory

Sounds like your code is wanting the bottom of the stock to be zero rather than the top. It is certainly conventional to have the top as zero but I believe some router guys do it with the bed as zero.

Thanks. I think that was the problem. I had to part down in Rhino before exporting to Visual Mill. That seemed to do the trick.
