acceleration and deceleration
« on: September 26, 2008, 07:40:42 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm planning to purchase a Mach3 software for my plotter. This plotter that I'm trying to build should be a high speed plotter, means the head should move with at least 40cm/sec. Since the Y axis itself (stepper motor on it, rails and the head) is heavy, is it possible to change the acceleration and the deceleration of the X axis, so less torque and smaller stepper motor is enough to move the Y axis and the entire head.

If the head needs to travel a long way (50-80cm) it should travel fast, but at the beginning it should start slowly and at the end it should decelerate.

Is it possible to change the acceleration, deceleration and the maximum traveling speed of the head in Mach3?

thank you for your help in advance,
Peter

Each motor is tuned individually in motor tuning, there you set the max velocity and also the acelleration (decelleration will be exactly the same) So from what I understand this is exactly what you are looking for.
