Need more speed to MPG in brain
« on: August 20, 2008, 03:25:45 PM »
Maybe a simple question but I can´t find the answer before is this forum.
Well, my lathe have around 300mm i Z-axel and some time I need a fast moving from example the end switch to working place 250mm away.
When I have the MPG on and the move is Step 1.000mm  the max feed pratical moving on mach meny are 138.xx
MPG mode is  Multi Step, MPG feedrate is 1000.
My pc is fast Vista  2 x   2.6 Ghz.

I drive the Brain found on cnc4pc   and the C22 pendent interface.
I hade even test some higher kernel speed.

Not sure how the CNC4PC pendant works but you should be able to use the MPG in Velocity mode, that will let your axis move as fast as your rapids are. I just have my MPG on the ports and I use the MPG config to set it up and have buttons on my panel to switch between multistep mode and velocity mode. If you dont have buttons to do that you may be able to use the flyout screen (press Tab key) to set it to Velocity mode.

Yes you are right Hood this mode is really fast, but when I move from multistep to velocity Only  one turn give only 0.329mm in same step 1.000
If i move one turn in multistep and step wide is 1.000  one turn is 100mm but it takes lot of time. Moving was going more
then 15 second -after I was finnished.

Try tuning your MPG, you will find it on Function Config menu the Calibrate MPG, remember to save after you have done this.
My MPG will move my lathes axis at 13,300mm/min if I wind fast, as I slow down it will slow down, when I get close to where I want I change to multistep and sneak up the last fractions. Also if I stop winding my MPG my axis stops, thats how it should be, if you have really slow accelleration then it may continue slightly after your MPG halts but it should be the same with the jog keys. If yours takes longer to stop than with the Jog keys you are needing to tune the MPG.

Okey, if you have speed enough it must be as you say.
I will test.  Thank you Hood
