Inadvertant "Cycle Start"
« on: July 17, 2008, 06:46:09 PM »
Hello,
Using M3Turn.
ONLY inputs to BOB are Spindle Index and Limits. (Did have external button configured to Cycle Start, then removed it.)
Using on-board Analog(ue) spindle control for a VFD.

While on the Manual screen, making MDI's - M3S1500  All is well.
Then                                         S500        OK
Then                                         S2000   OK too, but after a minute or so, letting it run while I was jotting down some notes, the program started.
It ran till the end of the code, then stopped normally.
I eliminated the external input for the Start to rule out noise but it will start by itself every time if I give it a few minutes.
I did not disable the OEM Trigger in Ports and Pins, there are pull-down resistors on all inputs so that should be OK.
This could be dangerous and I'd really like to have some input as to what could possibly causing this.
Thanks,
RC

Are these OEM triggers the ones you used for the external start button? If so and they are not used then I think it is best to disable them, see if it makes any difference.

Brett, I tried a new keybd.....same results. Thanks

Hood, yes, using 1 external button to a trigger for Start.
4 tests with the Trigger enabled and no external connections, cycle started randomly between 1 and 6 minutes.
Then with the Trigger Disabled, ran for over 15 minutes with no cycle start.
Does this also mean that I cannot use the external button to the enabled trigger ?
The BOB has other problems as well, I suppose it could be in the board itself.
I could use a regular input and a Brain to do a button push.
New board on the way, we'll see.
thanks,
RC

Start works fine from an OEM Trigger, I suspect your BOB is the problem  ;)
