Which cam program?
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:04:17 PM »
Hi,

I have bee experimenting with differing cam programs and am having problems with a particular point.

CUTTER COMPENSATION

I am able to get a shape all the way from a picture into mach3 but cannot find a way to set the cutter compensation so the shape retains it's original size and not undercut it by the tool radius.

As I'm only experimenting I have been using free programs until I find one I'm happy with. I've tried Cambam, Sheetcam & the free Lazycam and this is the only one I've been able to work this out in but it only allows a limited number of code lines to be converted.

So, I'm asking is there a freeware Cam program for me to try that allow more export g-code lines than Lazycam and that is easy to work out how to stipulate a cutter compensation before export?

Something with a decent user guide or advice from a user would be helpful.

Cheers,

Shamus
