LazyCam...Baffled
« on: March 15, 2008, 07:12:20 PM »
Hi everyone,  Im totally new to all this but have built a monster CNC router out of junk which works Ok but.......
Mach3 Cd loads on computer No 1and includes LazyCam...All Ok
It loads on Laptop(comp2) Ok including Lazy cam but LCam has different screen layout
Mach 3 loads but LazyCam will not load/install/run on computer 3.

All OS's are XP pro and all networked.  It seems to be something to do with not loading properly and looking for something

I have done .net 2.0 update from MS.   Any ideas anyone...Im going crackers here!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd suggest that may be you have an old version of LazyCAM; that would explain the different screen layout. Why it would load on one computer and not the others... I don't know. I'd recommend downloading the latest version of both Mach 3 and LazyCAM from this website. Also, the Mach3 manual talks about the tests you can do on your computer to make sure everything will work O.K.

Well thanks for the info.  I've downloaded most recent version...That will not install either.  The mach3 manual makes no reference to LazyCam in fact it's for an earlier version.  I just can't figure out what's wrong. I'm installing from the original CD, This is a brand new computer,  everything else works fine except this LazyCam package.........  There's some link or something missing on this computer but I'm totally out of my depth with trying to find out what it is.

Just a thought - Did you see this message regarding LazyCam?

"Note: This version requires the ".net 2.0 update" from microsoft. Otherwise you will get an error at startup."

I could not run LazyCam until I downloaded the MS update.

thanks Bob.........yeah I downloaded that yesterday then to check downloaded again just now.........result... failed to install with incomprehensible error message. Trying again!!!!!!!!!!!!  Also a bit more info..whenI shut down, Lazy Cam continues to run in background .  I had to "end program" 20 times before computer would close down.  Why did I start this????

Not to be repetitive, but this really sounds similar to the problem that I had.  The following is a quote from one of my previous posts.

"Okay - so I did not read the statement that Net 2 was required. Actually, I did read it, but thought it referred to Service Pack 2.  Anyway, I went to the MS site downloaded net 2 and all is well."

I know how frustrating it can be at times to get Mach3 and LazyCam sorted out, but I have found the results to be worth the effort.    And, most of my problems have been due to a nut (me) loose on the keyboard.

One more thought (I don't have many to spare!)

Regarding your not being able to shut down -  I had this happen in the past when trying to run a video cam in Mach3  and came up with this solution.

"Go into Control Panel and open Internet Options, then go Advanced and scroll down to Security - Look at the "Allow active content to run in files on my computer."  If this item is not checked, check it to make the option active.  I have not had any problems running the cam since I did that."

Could be something similar

Bob@ BobsShop - time to  get off here and go drink beer.
