Setting up rack and pinion
« on: March 15, 2008, 05:59:53 PM »
Hello everyone,
Is there a video or a tutorial on setting up with a rack and pinion? I have everything running but I can't figure out how to put the rack and pinion info into mach3. So accuracy is a joke at the moment.

Thanks for your time,
Tim

Easiest way to set the steps per unit for an axis is to use the "Set Steps Per" button on the settings page. It will walk you through the routine and will calc the figures for you.

Thanks for that. It won't let me change the values in the highlighted box but at least I'm closer.

Its the first question of any axis, "How far to travel". Its shows 0 and its highlighted blue but I can't change the number. I've been at the machine for 12 hours now, its the last thing I need to start cutting.  If your interested this is my try at cnc router   http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46411&page=3

Thanks for the help,
Tim
