Hello All,

I have a simple dxf file of a rectangle, and i want to cut a groove into a piece of wood, I have set the layer to:

Rapid height: 35.00
Cut Start: 30.00
Cut Depth: 10.00

The tool is set to do 2mm per pass, so after 10 passes I should have my rectangular slot.

But Lazy Cam inserts a Z0.0000 instruction at the start of a straight cut, which apart from destroying the job, ruins the bits in the mill.

Does anyone know how to stop this??

try going this way when you set your tool in layers,make sure all layers are what you want.

Rapid height: 35.00 = tool above work
Cut Start: 00.00      = tool touching work
Cut Depth: -10.00   =  tool in work

Thanks for the reply docltf I tried your way, and it worked fine.

However the first stage was cutting a jig in a piece of wood to hold the final job, the jig was cut, but then the job sits on top of the jig and I don't have the option of setting 0.000 as the point touching the work. 

Surely there is a way to stop LazyCam inserting these random Z0.0000 instructions into the G-Code?

What is the point of these instructions??
Is there an option in LazyCam to change the point to something like the safe Z?

I've solved it!
For anyone else with a similar problem, you need to "Clean" the drawing in LazyCam to prevent it from inserting Z0.0000 instructions.

To the developers of LazyCam:  Is this a bug? Or is there a reason why these instructions are inserted?
