LazyCam interpretation of Apertures in Gerber (GBR) files
« on: January 10, 2008, 10:44:00 PM »
Hello all,

I'm trying to import a gerber file into lazycam that contains the location of various pads (or apertures in gerber terms).  Regardless of their shape and size, lazycam interprets them as a circle of radius 5 mil.  Does lazycam not recognize apertures in gerber files, or is this just a setup problem?  I've set the tool diameter to smaller than the smallest pad/aperture dimension so this shouldn't be limiting the size of the cuts.

Has anyone had success converting apertures in gerber files into accurate shapes in lazycam?

EDIT:

I should clarify that my intention is to mill out the apertures as shapes and not 'flash' them.

Attached is the gerber file:

Hi, Mass

Can you give us a screen shot of what it should look like ?

Thanks, Chip

this is what the actual gerber looks like:

and this is what lazycam gives:

notice that the entity selected in lazycam is a circle of radius 5 mil but the actual pad in the gerber is a rectangle 60x66 mil

Hi, Mass

With a web search I found this on GBR Save.

Save: Arc Supported, Chord Supported, Circle Supported, Lnes Supported, Polygons Supported, " Rectangle Not Supported "

Maybe a different .### (WMF or EMF) format will save them and LC can read It, Not an Expert Hear.

Thanks, Chip
